THE BRUSSELS CARD gives free access to 30 museums and to public transportation in the Brussels Capital Region for 24, 48 or 72 hours. The card also grants a price discount in cultural institutes, restaurants, bars, shops and fashion boutiques in Brussels. Among them, the brand-new Magritte Museum and the House at the Rue Esseghem in Jette, where the artist lived from 1930 to 1954 and where he made his most famous works.
La Fleur en Papier doré is another mythical surrealist place. This typical Brussels Café had Magritte among its regular customers. The Brussels Card grants you a 25% discount on a large choice of beers.

ARTS CENTRE OF THE FRENCH COMMUNITY - LE BOTANIQUE (SAINT-JOSSE-TEN-NOODE)It was built between 1826 and 1829. It has a neoclassical style combined with modernistic iron and glass constructions. It was designed for the "Société Royale d'Horticulture" to protect its collection of exotic plants. The Cultural Centre of the French-speaking Community is housed there since 1994.

AUTOWORLD BRUSSELS : INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE CENTRE (BRUXELLES)Autoworld, the most impressive collection of oldtimers in the world, which oficially opened its doors at the Palais Mondial in October 1986, situated in a very beautiful and luxurious building, which invites you to stroll through the history of the automobile from 1886 until the seventies. The majority of oldtimers belong to the Mahy collection of Ghent, the most important in the world (950 vehicles). Superb exhibits, selected from the De Pauw collection complete the exhibition. Both Belgian and foreign cars are displayed. Moreover, temporary exhibitions are being held at the Palais Mondial on a regular base. |

Created by a passionate booklover, it is the only institution of its kind in Belgium and abroad. The permanent exhibition, which can only be visited by appointment, includes more than 3000 art bindings from 16th to the 21st century. The Wittockiano organises about four temporary exhibitions a year on bookbinding and book arts. The documentation library and the reading hall are accessible to the public. BOZAR - PALACE OF FINE ARTS (BRUXELLES)An Art Deco masterpiece by Victor Horta, the Centre of Fine Arts is one of the jewels of Belgium's cultural and architectural heritage. PORTE DE HAL - ROYAL MUSEUMS FOR ART AND HISTORY (BRUXELLES)Very well preserved six hundred year old neogothic building. It is the only preserved gate from the Brussels medieval surrounding wall. This is due to the fact that it served as prison during the demolition of the walls in the 18th century. In 1869, the architect Beyaert made some alterations that changed the primitive appearance of the building. Some of its rooms are quite impressive indeed. |

ROYAL MUSEUMS OF FINE ARTS : MUSEUM OF ANCIENT ART (BRUXELLES)The Museum of Ancient Art has got a vast collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings from the 15th until 18th century. WELLINGTON MUSEUM (WATERLOO)Waterloo has always been a strategic place because of its location: at the edge of the Soignes Forest, at the gates of Brussels. In the centre of the village you can find the Wellington Museum, a former 18th century coaching inn (listed building) which served as Headquarter for the Duke of Wellington, commander of the allied forces on 17 and 18 June 1815. In an educational way, by means of etches, weapons, documents and illuminated plans, the museum retraces the European political context before and after the battle. You can also follow the different stages of the battle, and in the multimedia room you will learn how the name Waterloo has spread across the world. A multilingual tape guide is available for individuals: the 40 minutes commentary explains the battle in a clear way. |
